What to do if your child is doing the Cyberbullying?

 

What starts out as a prank to make a friend laugh or good natured teasing can quickly turn into cyberbullying.  

What happens when you find out that your child has been the bully in a cyberbullying situation?

Explain that it is never appropriate to intimidate or use hurtful words online.  Stick with the motto many adults follow, if you cannot say it in person do not say it online! 

Secondly, try to determine if your child is truly playing an innocent prank and needs to be educated on how pranks can become hurtful

OR if your child is trying to retaliate against something that happened to them – try to get to the root of the issue and see if you and your child can determine a better way to handle it than online bullying.

After that it is time to clearly define some Internet rules and talk about appropriate use of the Internet.
